About this event
The Seocho-gu Outdoor Library event, “Yangjae Library Embracing Yangjae Stream: A Picture Book Journey Along the Waterway,” is an outdoor reading festival designed to allow visitors to experience books and culture and the arts together at Yangjae Stream, a natural space in the heart of the city. The event will take place 10 times in total, every Saturday and Sunday from October 10 to November 8, 2026, in the small forest in front of Yangjae Library and the surrounding area of Yangjae Stream. Centered on the themes of “Relationships, Emotions, Dreams and Growth, Healing, and Nature,” the festival introduces a variety of picture books each week and features an outdoor reading space where visitors can read freely amidst nature, as well as picture book exhibitions, hands-on programs, performances, and family-friendly activities. The program features reading and cultural arts activities designed to take advantage of the unique characteristics of each location—such as forest trails, lawns, the Yangjae Stream walking path, and stairways—and is distinguished by its expansion of the traditional indoor library reading experience into natural settings. Anyone—including families with children and citizens visiting Yangjae Stream—is welcome to participate. Through a variety of programs that integrate books, nature, and culture and the arts, participants will be able to experience reading as part of their daily lives.
