About this event
This is a nighttime public art festival unique to Nowon-gu, featuring lanterns and light sculptures that combine popular appeal with artistic merit along the eco-friendly Danghyeon Stream, as well as content—such as artwork creation and guided tours—that directly involves local residents. Beginning in 2014 as the “Nowon Lantern Festival” and held every spring through 2019, the festival was renamed “Nowon Moonlight Stroll” in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic with the goal of “healing through art.” and has continued to the present day. In addition to the main attraction—exhibitions of artistic lanterns and light sculptures—the festival features “Resident-Participatory Community Art,” which pairs artists with local residents to create and exhibit works; “Moonlight Guides,” in which residents serve as docents to explain the artworks to visitors, and “Weekend Cultural and Art Performances” featuring local artists.
