About this event
The Family Book Festival is the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education’s flagship reading culture festival, held every fall at Jeongdok Library since 2013. It was designed to provide a space where families and neighbors can come together and communicate through books, and to help people experience the joy and value of reading in their daily lives through various hands-on activities, performances, and exhibitions. In particular, it has evolved into a collaborative festival as various institutions—including libraries, lifelong learning centers, local bookstores, and school reading clubs—have joined forces to operate programs in which citizens and students actively participate. With a diverse lineup of programs—including the “Whole Family Reads” Awards Ceremony, cultural performances, creative book-related activities, and eco-friendly and traditional cultural experiences—the festival offers something for everyone, regardless of age or gender. It is a meaningful event that goes beyond reading as a mere activity to provide an opportunity to experience the joy of daily life and the value of community.
